📰 A Major Milestone for a Rising Star
Tyler Weaver, a talented 22-year-old amateur golfer from England, has officially qualified for his first-ever major – the US Open 2025, set to be played at the historic Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. The young star described this moment as “up there with my biggest achievement.”
Weaver secured his place on what’s famously known as “golf’s longest day”, where hopefuls across the U.S. and Canada play 36 intense holes in a single day at 10 different venues to claim one of 47 coveted spots.
🏆 Tied for Third – A Spot Well Earned
Playing in Atlanta, Tyler Weaver delivered a stellar performance, finishing tied for third at 11 under par, earning one of the three available amateur spots. Leading the field was 17-year-old American Mason Howell, while seasoned major champions like Zach Johnson and Jason Dufner missed the cut.
“Playing in a major championship is a dream of mine and it still hasn’t quite sunk in,” Weaver shared, beaming with pride.
👨👦 Golf Runs in the Family
Tyler isn’t the only athlete in the family. He is the son of Jason Weaver, a former Flat jockey who won over 1,000 races in his career, including the 1994 2000 Guineas. Clearly, sports excellence runs in their blood.
Tyler plans to have his brother Max Weaver as his caddie at Oakmont, making it a family affair in more ways than one.
🗓️ What’s Next for Weaver?
Before teeing it up at Oakmont from 12-15 June, Weaver will sharpen his skills at the Arnold Palmer Cup in South Carolina (5-7 June). He’ll then head to Oakmont a few days early to settle in and prepare for the biggest moment of his golfing career.
🌟 From College to the Big Leagues
Currently attending Florida State University, Weaver has had a remarkable year:
- 🥇 Won the Cabo Collegiate title in March via playoff
- 🏌️♂️ Earned an exemption to the World Wide Technology Championship (PGA Tour) in Mexico (November 2025)
- 🥈 Finished second at the ACC Men’s College Championship in April
- 🇬🇧 Represented England at the 2024 European Team Championship
💬 Tyler Weaver on His Journey

The young golfer from Suffolk, England, is not only living his dream – he’s inspiring a new generation of UK golf fans. His journey from college tournaments to the US Open is a testament to hard work, talent, and determination.
